- This is my number one resource! It discuss various aspects of health and nutrition as it relates to the Bible. Dr Russell is amazing and does a wonderful job unpacking his ideas so the beginner can understand and put them into practice. It was an easy read and a book I reference OFTEN! He includes countless scriptures and I have thoroughly enjoyed looking them up and doing further research on Jewish food laws. This book is MUST HAVE for anyone wanting to live as healthy as possible. God gives us the tools that modern science is now trying to take credit for.
- This book was an eye opener to many general practices in medicine and sanitary issues that we use now but were not always in place. Treatment of the dead, waste management, illness and diet were all things God addressed in the Old Testament yet for centuries they were ignored and countless people perished. Cesspools in Europe (and now around our Factory Farms), touching the dead and then contaminating others......countless examples are in this book. Not big on nutrition but HUGE on health! A great read if you want a deeper look into God's wisdom for our well being.
Kosher Law
- I wanted to know more about why God had certain laws for food in the Old Testament. I still have SO MUCH research I want to do!! This website has been a very good tool and or family has now incorporated many Kosher guidelines into our diet.
- This COOKBOOK is new to my library and I am so enjoying both the recipes and information! It is so much more than a cookbook!!! This may just be the first and last place I look for my future healthy cooking needs!!!
Food Inc
- A must see documentary for an all encompassing look into our food system. This video discusses Factory Farming (where almost all of the animal products consumed in America are raised), preservatives in our foods and the dangers they pose and an inside look to our "convenience foods" and how harmful they truly are. This movie was BEYOND eye opening and something my girls will watch when the times comes so they can have the knowledge to make their own decision as to how they will eat (one their own dime ;) You can view this "one demand" from Netflix. I have also heard it will be shown on PBS.
- and this is the crazy site that started this WHOLE journey! Josh found it and loves it! I'm sold on the whole "commercial dairy is bad" but am looking for ways to add 100% raw, grassfed, organic cheese and yogurt back into our diets. Have found several farms and plan to try it as a treat every now and then.
- Find Grassfed meat in your area. This site is a huge help when trying to get away from feedlot meat and bring healthy, OH SO TASTY meat to the table instead.
- This site allows you to search for local meat, eggs, dairy and produce. It describes the farming practices, health certifications and will make it a smooth transition from buying grocery store meat that says cage free to animals that are TRULY cage free.....your body will thank you.
- This is a fun documentary of two college grads who decide to go purchase an acre, grow corn and follow it from the seed all the way to being processed. In the process they learn the evils of Government Subsidized corn, the ick it becomes and how damaging it has been on just about every level of our commercial food industry. This movie further cemented the idea that we would avoid corn in just about everything unless it was Organic and not some crazy byproduct of corn.
Eating Animals, Safran Foer
- In the middle of this book right now. Great read! I heard about it on Ellen and am pretty sure it is a book I will add to my personal library. This book is his journey of discovery when trying to decide how he and his new little family will eat in the future. He discusses the HORRORS of factory farms but also does give credit to those who raise animals in an appropriate way (despite how few and far between those farms are).
Skinny Bitch
- Just a fun read! It is two sassy Vegans who give you the short version of why you shouldn't eat animals. They don't go into Family Farms at all....but what they say about Factory Farms made it clear to me I would NEVER eat from them again on my own dollar! Enjoyed reading the library copy, took me two days then I returned it.

Please do your own research, pray and decide what is best for your family**
