Weldon and Ann Warren have a family ranch in North Texas. They make deliveries across Texas, email Weldon for specifics. They raise their cows on native Texas pasture and provide them with the utmost care! Weldon has been AMAZING in answering all of my questions and concerns even detailing the transport and slaughter process for me. I am blessed to have found them and be able to provide my family with quality beef. Their ranch is also featured on eatwild.com
Windy Meadows Farm, Chicken and Eggs
Another family farm in North Texas. They make deliveries across Texas, check their website for more details. They raise their chickens in pastures where they are able to be the true omnivores God made them to be. They chickens are rotated around their land so they always have ample supply of food. Whole chicken is the way to go to save $$. They cook up WONDERFULLY in the crock pot with a few simple veggies, salt and pepper. The eggs are a beautiful bright yellow and taste amazing! **no chlorine is used in the processing of these birds**
Coppell Farmers Market
This is not the closest FM to me but SOOOOO worth the drive (and I can grab a Soy Chai Latte on the way ;) The produce is amazing! You can ask the famers all your questions and guarantee the source, quality and conditions of your food! Many are not certified organic (crazy government process) but they can give you specifics about how they grow....many don't spray pesticides or such and I am confident buying their produce and feeding my family. Buying what's in season and enjoying the variety is half the fun :) They offer raw local honey (we buy it in BULK!). Several local ranchers sell their beef (poultry and eggs as well). You can ask away and they are happy to help you! Go early (as in be there when it opens at 8) as egg and milk sell out FAST! I LOVE how Live Stock Firsts beef tastes...its our favorite!! Taylor is wonderful and oober patient! His eggs are great...he is my #2 egg supplier :) He offers pastured pork as well if that's something your family enjoys. Visit the Farmers Market website for bio's on several farmers and a list of venders. They open year round...Every Saturday Spring-Fall and select Saturdays in the winter. Come join us and be part of the family (and you MUST try the frozen ice treats while you are there...I forget what she calls them. Lavender and Coconut are our favorites....along with spiced wine, wow!! all Dairy free :)
Homestead Farm, Produce, Honey, and Beef
- This is a fun little outing and a great place to pick up food! Take a snack (or buy one there) and enjoy it out at the picnic area watching the animals happily playing. They specialize in goats and the babies are so precious to watch!!
- Their produce is wonderful and local, woohoo! Not always "certified organic" but organic practices are used such as NO pesticides.....they just haven't gone through the trouble of getting certified through the government. Enjoy their RAW goats milk, goat milk products, beans, nuts, honey...so much packed into this little farmstand! They have grassfed beef, farm fresh eggs and chicken as well.
- I will purchase their beef, eggs are not pastured and are not fed organic grain....you can visit their coup just outside the store and see them. I would buy these over grocery store eggs....but our 1st and 2nd choice farmers have been able to keep our egg shelf full :) but I WILL NOT buy the chicken. First, It's is not their chicken...it comes from Frans Fryers and I do not agree with their feed or care of their chickens. I also wanted to be sure NO chlorine rinse was done on chicken our family ate and the easiest way to do that is stick with Windy Meadows :)
Fruits and Veggies Co-Op, Your Health Source, Monica Brown
This is an ALL ORGANIC produce Co-Op that has delivery points all across Texas. They also offer a "dry goods" list where you can make other purchases. I order their produce for convenience and the variety. I love pick up days and being able to try out new fruits and veggies! Swiss Chard....who knew we would actually like it, haha!

They had plenty other nut snacks and such.....I'm just kinda a freak about specific oils and how things are processed (will only buy raw nuts/seeds) so I didn't get any. If you ever want me to check and see if they have something for you give me a call! Or come with us ;)
**I'm just a mom documenting the food journey my family is on.
